Wrestling Legend Paul Bearer Dead at 58
I don’t watch a ton of wrestling now, but the sport as it existed in the 80′s and 90′s is burned into every fiber of my being. And that means that, like many who grew up watching in that era of full-on kayfabe and the all-important manager/wrestler dynamic, I am a gigantic fan of Bill Moody, better known to wrestling fans everywhere as Paul Bearer. And tonight, as I neared the mid-point of my customary late-night movie, I got a text from fellow ANO writer Aaron that hit me like a rare few celebrity deaths ever do: ”RIP Paul Bearer”.
ANO’s Top 11 Zombie Movies

(Please excuse my tardiness.) On behalf of the ghouls and ghosts at A Nerd Occurrence, here are eleven zombie movies we believe are worth your consideration. The choices were culled from many other top zombie movie lists, with some other choices thrown in to keep things interesting. We have a few passionate zombie movie fans and some more casual horror fans, so it should be a good mix for everyone. Let’s start with a good summary of the genre from one of our experts, sift through some honorable mentions, and then get to the meat of the matter.

I was hooked young, some of my earliest memories are of watching the Star Wars trilogy. Read the rest of this entry
A Nerd Roadtrip: Amazing Heroes, Vortex Music, and More

In celebration of life and all of its infinite beauty, I’d like to invite the Internet on a roadtrip I took today to various nerd locations in the greater Seattle, Washington, area with a great friend of mine, Brenden.
Mass Effect: Final Thoughts and Goodbyes

They say the journey is the real important part; our destination can be seen as the final stroke on an otherwise brilliant manuscript of adventures, challenges, and discoveries. My journey began a ways back when I was handed a copy of Mass Effect and told “Play this, you’ll like it. Trust me.” Trust him I did. He was right (of course). Back in March (is it seriously already August?) I went out with everyone else and picked up my copy of Mass Effect 3, eager to take it home and experience the final chapter of my favorite science fiction universe ever. Now, finally, months later I feel like I’ve finished it. I’ve devoured this bit of wonderful story telling from beginning to end (twice). So let’s talk about it. Oh and be warned, there are spoilers here.
Today’s Occurrence: Don’t Mess With Felicia Day
Social media is such a enigma. You never know what will become big news, or won’t, but something big is always around the corner. So, imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to find out that some Twitter user bashed Felicia Day, and the Twitterverse was all up in a tizzy about the event. The Twitter user in question is Ryan Perez, who at the time of the offending tweets worked for gaming website Destructoid (Perez and Destructoid parted ways shortly after the incident).
